37 hours per week spread over 4.5 days, Mon - Thur with lunch time finish each Friday.

Job Summary:

The Design Engineer – Luminaires role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer to design and develop luminaires to supplement the industry leading product range. The role requires that the engineer will own all stages of project development from conception, through testing and development and to production.

Focusing on development of Luminaires for hazardous areas, they will be responsible for creating sketches, drawings and models. The role is hands on, with an expectation to be involved with the product testing and production implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Delivery of Sustaining Engineering and NPD projects relating to company UK products, specifically focusing on the the main Brand Luminaire range

• Creation and checking of CAD models and technical drawings

• Performing pertinent actions in SAP (Raising ECs, BOM creation etc)

• Owning all stages of allocated projects from conception through testing, verification and launch

• Development of products, taking into account all aspects of user experience, technical specification and production implications.

• Providing innovative solutions to engineering problems

• Work with Brand Management to develop project specification

• Actively involved in VOC of customers and markets

• Maintain reporting of project statuses and actively partake in meetings and discussions

• Take an active part in driving innovation and implementation of new technology in the products and the business

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (minimum)

• Track record of delivering engineering projects in a high performance environment

• Min 5 years of experience in the design and development of lighting for industrial applications is strongly preferred but not essential

• Strong communicator who is capable of building relationships with key decision makers

• Performance driven, focused on delivering excellent results in a timely fashion and to budget

• Analytical mindset, able to evaluate results and form conclusions in a methodical fashion

• Works well as a problem solver in group situations

• Experienced in the use of parametric CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor)

• Knowledge of industry design/drawing standards

• Exposure to designing for compliance with standards

• Previous MRP system exposure (particularly SAP) preferred but not essential

• Demonstrable design to value capability

• Must have strong Microsoft Office, e-mail and other PC application skills
