Scotland delivers largest increase in finance jobs in Britain
The Bank of Scotland study shows that over the last 5, 10 and 20 years Scotland has outperformed every other region in terms of the percentage increase in employment.
There are 107,000 people now working in financial services North of the border , 20,000 more than 5 years ago. Across the rest of the UK there's been a fall of 11,000 over the same period.
The Bank's Group Economist Tim Crawford says there's a tremendous spin-off for other sectors too: "Good pay levels and the sector's ability to generate new jobs in ancillary areas like IT and the Law have made a real difference to Scotland".
The study also shows that the type of work is changing with 4,000 fewer Scots employed in insurance, pension funds and securities broking and 24,000 more working in banking.
