Jobsearch Live, one of Scotland's most successful, targeted recruitment fairs is returning to Glasgow this summer.
Organised by s1jobs, The Herald, the Sunday Herald, and the Evening Times, the event will bring together employers in many key industry sectors. Jobs and career development opportunities will be available to people looking for work and those in search of a new direction.
At the inaugural event in January, more than 6000 visitors braved the winter weather to check out the show, with more than 1500 pouring through the doors in the first hour.
It was a success for visitors looking for work, with some even securing jobs on the day.
One visitor said: "I didn't expect to be walking out of the show with the offer of a job. I just wanted to see what was on offer. That's what I call a result."
Another visitor, support worker Maureen Murray, travelled from Ross-shire to the event. She said: "I've been looking to move back to Glasgow for the past year and have been scouring the jobs pages for suitable openings. After coming here, I have decided to refocus and think about other industry sectors where my skills and experience would be put to good use, but where there seem to be more opportunities.
"I didn't think I'd be leaving here with a whole new perspective and plans to make a radical career change. I'm going home with a lot to think about. It was a real eye opener."
After the event, exhibitor George Elliot of finance firm Norwich Union, said: "We made three hires on the day, and I had to photocopy three times the amount of literature I had brought along to keep up with demand."
Claire Elliot, partnership development manager for ILA Scotland, has signed up as a sponsorship partner.
She said: "We were talking to people all day long at January's fair so for this next show we will bring along a few extra bodies to help out."
Organisers have pulled out all the stops to ensure that visitors and exhibitors get the most out of the day.
A marketing campaign aimed at reaching as many potential applicants as possible will be staged prior to the event, with radio and online advertising, coverage in all Herald and Times Group publications, as well as a team of cyclists who will be handing out leaflets in the city centre on the day.
ILA Scotland and the Glasgow East Regeneration Agency (GERA)will return as co-sponsors. GERA chief executive Ronnie Saez said: "Job fairs are an effective mechanism for our clients, who are talented and enthusiastic people looking to re-enter the job market. People in the east end of Glasgow have a wealth of talent to offer potential employers.
"Many have worked hard to retrain or take up studies at local colleges to equip themselves with the right training or qualifications for the work they hope to get into. The fair has the right components for a day that will produce results for job seekers and employers."
David Hill, head of broadband technical support at 02, a new co-sponsor, said: "We will have full-time and part-time posts in customer services and technical support at our Skypark Glasgow location."
The event. s city centre location means a new career move could be just a bus, train or underground ride away. Those who work in the city and want to see what's new in the market can easily pop in during a lunch break for a career review.
There will be advisers at the event to assist you to evaluate your current CV, qualifications and training needs to help take your career to a new level.
The fair will have a chill-out area with free spa and massage treatments and an internet cafe serving refreshments while candidates find out more about exhibitors and jobs on the web.
Exhibitors can use the interview zone for impromptu interviews with potential applicants, and firms will be posting jobs and career opportunities on a vacancy board.
There will also be a private exhibitors' lounge and relaxation area with complimentary refreshments.
There is a range of packages for exhibitors with advertising and marketing options. They can also contribute to a 'goodie bag' for visitors. Firms may also come on board as sponsorship partners.
Organisers are expecting to exceed January's visitor numbers. A spokesman said: "There were more than 30 exhibitors at the first event and we expect more to come on board for the summer show."
