| Lloyds TSB yesterday announced plans to create 150 jobs for its contact centre in Glasgow's burgeoning International Financial Services District.
The banking giant, which already employs more than 1000 people at its Glasgow call centre, said the recruitment drive comes ahead of planned changes to the bank's overdraft arrange-ments and that an increase in the number of inquiries is expected.
Sally Jones-Evans, managing director of Lloyds TSB's telephone banking unit, said: "In November, we are making some changes to our overdrafts and anticipate that more customers will want to speak to us about the changes.
"Also, the run-up to Christmas and the New Year is always a busy time so we want to make sure we are well prepared."
Last year, the bank said, Lloyds TSB received 70 million calls from its customers, which equates to 8000 calls an hour, or 133 calls every minute.
The bank earlier this year announced that it was opening a new centre for its private equity operation in Scotland.
