Columba Hotel upgrade is jobs boost for Oban
Sixty jobs are to be created in Oban as part of a £3m plan to upgrade the town's landmark Columba Hotel. The McKever Group, owners of the Columba, has unveiled ambitious plans to convert the hotel into four star status and help rejuvenate the town's North Pier.
The plans also include the purchase of the adjacent Museums of War and Peace, which have fallen into disrepair, that under the scheme would be transformed into a corporate function and dining facility at the hotel. McKever also proposes to upgrade the hotel's Harbour Bar by developing the former Bennett's clothing shop next door and creating a new bar and restaurant.
