And we recognise that any new member of staff needs support and development in order to contribute from day one. From the moment you join AEGON, your development will be an integral part of your work with us.

Experienced employees design our training and development programme, so they have the real inside view on what you need to learn to work here. We’re fully aware that people learn at different speeds and we take this into account. So, if you need more or less training then we’ll adapt it to suit your individual needs. Training covers all aspects of the job and you’ll have regular meetings with your manager to talk about your progress, set objectives and plan your development.

If you’re ambitious, there’s a real opportunity for career progression here. Many of our current managers started their careers with us as school leavers and have progressed through the business as a result of the high quality of their work, enthusiasm and the support we’ve given them.

You may also have the opportunity to study for a range of professional exams; we would sponsor you for this and, if appropriate, you may be rewarded with a monetary incentive if you pass your exams.

Our on-site Learning Centre is available for you to study either in your own or the company’s time. As part of your job you’ll have to complete some computer-based training packages. However, there are plenty of other packages available too: why not learn a foreign language or brush up on your Excel or Word skills? Or you can advance your career through the management courses and certified technical courses we offer.
