Full Job Description

The Golden Jubilee National Hospital is the regional tertiary centre for cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery and complex electrophysiology for the West of Scotland and one of two regional PCI centres.  The institution also houses national services such as Adult Congenital (SACCS), Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit and the National Advanced Heart Failure Service including heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellowship Post in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care.  

This 12 month post (negotiable) will involve working as the Cardiothoracic Anaesthetic Fellow in cardiothoracic theatres and the cardiac intensive care unit. The fellow will undertake supervised training in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care alongside the rotational anaesthetic trainees from the West of Scotland deanery. The post-holder would also be expected to be able to work independently in general and orthopaedic theatres when required.

Post holders will take part in the cardiothoracic anaesthetic full shift rota for cardiac intensive care. This rota currently has ten doctors: six rotational ST anaesthetic trainees, two anaesthetic lecturer posts and a senior clinical fellow.  

Applicants must hold full GMC registration and have passed the FRCA examination (or equivalent).
