Full Job Description

Glasgow Warriors are looking for a Sports Medicine Doctor to become the next Glasgow Warriors Team doctor.

This role sits within an established medical team providing world class medical services to our professional and senior academy players. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of all aspects of general medical care and specialist sports medicine to the squad during the training week, and on match days, both home and away.

You will work closely with the Performance teams' physiotherapists to always ensure the highest standards of care for all players. The job requires working semi-flexible hours, including weekend work, lone working, and global travel across the United Rugby Championships (URC) and EPCR tournaments in particular.

The ideal candidate must be a passionate, dynamic, and innovative person who is looking to progress their sports medicine career within an elite rugby environment. This team requires an experienced doctor with the right mindset to grow in the role, whilst supporting the medical team in providing world class care for Glasgow Warriors Rugby players.

  • GMC registered Medical Practitioner with licence to practice

  • Recognised post graduate qualification in Sport and Exercise Medicine (SEM)

  • Able to gain medical indemnity insurance for elite professional rugby including international travel

  • At least 3 years' experience of working in elite sport, ideally team sport.

  • Current Anti-doping education certificate eg. UKAD

  • Current World Rugby Level 3 or equivalent immediate care certification


  • Desirable Experience and Qualifications:

  • SEM MSc qualification, or Member or Fellow of Faculty of Sport and Exercise medicine UK

  • Significant experience of rugby or a similar contact sport

  • Significant experience with travelling with teams

  • Holds GMC certificate of completion of specialist or GP training in relevant field.

  • Concurrent role in General practice, or a trauma or musculoskeletal based speciality such as accident and emergency, orthopaedics or sport and exercise medicine

  • Formal training in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound, joint injections, and MRI scan image interpretation
