Patrick Dempsey, Executive Director for Programme Talent at Teach First, highlighted that this change was accelerated by a 30% rise in applications this year, driven in part by job market softening and the ease with which AI allows bulk applications. “The shift from written to task-based assessment is something we feel the need to accelerate,” he explained.<\/p>\n

The AI boom comes at a challenging time for job seekers. Since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, entry-level job vacancies have dropped by 32%, according to Adzuna. Graduate roles specifically have fallen by 33% compared to last year, marking the toughest market since 2018.<\/p>\n
