Founded in 1919 in the Southwest, Gregory Distribution has grown to become one of the UK's largest privately-owned transport companies. Our History:

Gregory Distribution began as AJ Gregory in 1919 when Archie John Gregory used a horse and cart to haul coal from North Tawton train station to the local wool factory. Nine months later, he bought his first vehicle, a 2.9-litre Model T. The company expanded significantly over the years, moving into warehousing and specialist services such as milk collection. During World War II, the premises in North Tawton were taken over by the War Department, and many of the vehicles were engaged in military activities.

In 1947, Archie Gregory's only son, William John (known as Jack), joined the business at the age of 23. Jack had a strong grasp of business, having worked at Lloyds Bank in Tavistock. Before retiring, Jack was joined by his son John, who had been General Manager for Transamerica Integrated Container Services for Australasia and the South Pacific region. The company continued to grow and innovate, becoming a major player in the transport industry.
