National Museums Scotland

Profile

National Museums Scotland is one of the leading museum groups in Europe. With one of the largest and most diverse collections in the world, we are responsible for the acquisition, preservation, and display of a substantial part of Scotland’s cultural, historic and national heritage. Millions of local and international visitors enjoy our four museums each year, and we also introduce our collections to a much wider audience than can physically visit our museums through, touring exhibitions, loans, community engagement, digital programmes and research. National Museums Scotland employs approximately 500 people working in a variety of roles across five different directorates: Collections, External Relations, Finance & Resources, Public Programmes and Visitor Experience. Every colleague has a key role to play in achieving our mission to preserve and interpret our collections and make them accessible to all. We are nothing without our people. Each individual plays their part in making us a successful organisation and employer. We have cleaners, curators, technicians, security, engineers, IT support, conservators, designers, marketing and content producers to name but a few. Whatever your skill set and whatever your background it is likely we have a role to suit you.
