Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.  


Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (32 hours per week) post based in St Johns Hospital.



Post Summary:        

The post holder will be an integral member of the West Lothian Community Palliative Care Team.

The post itself has three main components:

  • to provide strategic direction and clinical support for the provision of specialist palliative care at West Lothian HBCCC site Tippethill Hospital in Armadale and nursing/care homes, working in collaboration with West Lothian Medicine of the Elderly and the Rapid Elderly Assessment Care Team (REACT).
  • to provide strategic direction and clinical support for the West Lothian Community and Wellbeing Service and Palliative Care teams provided by Marie Curie, based in the Macmillan Centre, St Johns Hospital (SJH) Livingston.
  • to contribute to the Marie Curie Palliative Medicine Consultant team working across both Edinburgh and West Lothian, collaborating to provide cross cover for both services. 

The West Lothian community palliative care team (CPCT) works in conjunction with the wider Lothian Marie Curie services.
