NHS Lothian Pharmacy & Medicines Service

Royal Hospital Children & Young People/ Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

Lead Pharmacist Paediatric Critical Care, Surgery & Gastroenterology

Band 8a, 1.0 WTE, 37 hours

(Including evening, weekend working and public holidays commitment)

NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh city, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four teaching Boards. We have strategic partnerships with local Universities, Local Authorities and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of 900,000, providing a range of primary, community based and acute hospital services. We also provide regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties.

The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines service is to deliver clinically led, person-centred services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services. We are focussed on creating an environment where each person in the team has the opportunity to flourish, develop and make best use of their skills.

An opportunity has arisen for a person with the right values, skillset and proven track record in leading a team to innovate pharmacy services within this area and provide clinical leadership within a paediatric critical care and surgery environment that includes gastroenterology.

An experienced pharmacist with a real passion in leadership and improvement is best placed for this role. Prior experience working in critical care and/or surgery is essential and experience in paediatrics is desirable. You will be supported to gain the necessary paediatric specialist knowledge (if applicable), including the development of your advanced practice portfolio. NHS Lothian Pharmacy Service invests in developing their teams by optimising all local and national funding streams. This would be available to support any required agreed personal development for team members to undertake and grow in their roles successfully; and develop them for future career progression.

Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy Degree or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), be an independent prescriber and should have completed a Clinical Diploma or Masters in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
