The Role

Exciting opportunity to lead the improvement of life quality within vulnerable populations effected by their limited ability/inability to sustain employment due to a health condition.

Our Return to Work Case Management team provide biopsychosocial support for clients referred via various externally funded contracts with the aim of facilitating progress by reducing health related barriers and encouraging progression towards gaining work/sustaining work. This includes Local Authority/ 3rd sector support programmes and co-ordination of the national Working Health Services Scotland service.

As the Service Manager you will lead our Case Management Team comprising of:

  • A Service Manager
  • Senior Case Managers
  • Case Managers
  • A Liaison Officer
  • Engagement and Training Officers
  • Assistant Case Managers

Your key tasks will involve:

  • Ensuring all existing contracts are managed appropriately and deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Liaise with relevant government officials, Local Authority leads, Health Board leads, private & 3rd sector partners maintaining Salus recognised profile within the Health & Work arena.
  • Growing the business element of the service by securing additional service provision.
  • Providing Professional & inspirational management to members of the Team
  • Ensuring effective governance & performance structures are in place.
  • Ensure production of business intelligence and associated management information
  • Deputise for the General Manager in matters of Health & Work when required.

The Working week will be 37 hours, Monday to Friday with the ability for limited home working within the working week.

Car is essential due to occasional travel required to customer sites.

Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Degree level or equivalent*.

Relevant postgraduate clinical qualifications with highly developed specialist knowledge, demonstrating skills appropriate to discipline.

Demonstrable experience with a proven track record in the successful management of staff and other resources.

Substantial evidence of working with professional clinicians.

Management knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development.

Professional, leadership and managerial experience within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.

Proven track record of partnership and collaborative working internal and external to the organisation.

Project management skills.

Evidence of personal contribution to service planning and redesign projects.

Experience of audit and research.

Advanced presentation skills.

Awareness of political agenda affecting health.

IT skills.

Budget management.

Current driving licence.

*Staff should note that the term operating at Masters Degree level corresponds to possessing an equivalent level of knowledge gained through experience.

It would be great if you also have 

Further education/evidence of continuous professional development in area of speciality

Registered Clinician with valid NMC/ HCPC Registration.

NIDMAR certification

Demonstrable experience of assessing training needs

Demonstrable experience of resource management i.e. financial; human; capital

Experience of working within rehabilitation or employability support services at senior level

Experience in working with Government officers, Local Authority senior managers and relevant partners

Be able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotlands Leadership Qualities framework or equivalent framework

Knowledge and experience of needs assessment and analysis/interpretation of related data

Demonstrable insight to Health & Work strategy and associated economic challenges

Understanding/experience of Bio-psychosocial models of care

A proven track record in effective leadership 

Ability to think strategically, corporately and act as an accountable leader

A proven track record in developing innovative solutions in meeting organisational requirements and motivating staff to affect change

A proven track record in developing teams/services and integrated solutions to complex and challenging problems

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Lanarkshire will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Lanarkshire is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so.
