Full Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join and shape the team within CAMHS that responds to all aspects of Unscheduled Care, this can often be those most mentally unwell or at highest risk to themselves or others.

The post holder will have responsibility for assessment and providing interventions/treatment to children and young people within a CAMHS community setting. You will be expected to carry out mental health assessments and provide treatment in collaboration with patients, families/carers and other service providers.  A holistic, person centred, systemic approach is necessary, which involves offering interventions which take account of the young person and significant others, such as family members, other service providers and education.

The team pride themselves on excellent communication skills and working collaboratively, meeting twice daily in brief safety huddles to promote shared decision making/responsibility.

In addition to your skills and knowledge, you should have a real passion to make a difference to young peoples mental health, and motivation to contribute to and support the ongoing development of the team, service, and organisation. This can be a very challenging but rewarding area to work in therefore we welcome any discussion prior to applying if you have any questions.

You must hold a professional qualification and a current registration with a professional governing body to be considered.

Dumfries and Galloway is a stunning part of Scotland to live and work in. It can be as remote or as busy as you want it to be and there are road and rail routes to the bigger cities on both sides of the border.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
