Accountant (Xero)

FT Recruitment are delighted to be supporting our client with the recruitment of an experienced Accountant to join their finance team. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this is a hands-on role responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function, with a particular focus on maintaining accurate financial records and supporting robust financial controls.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who is confident working across sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking, reconciliations, and month-end activities, with strong practical experience using Xero.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day finance administration using Xero.
• Maintain accurate sales and purchase ledgers.
• Process customer invoices, supplier bills, payments, and banking transactions.
• Complete bank, credit card, and control account reconciliations.
• Support credit control activities, including monitoring outstanding customer balances and following up overdue accounts.
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end processes, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
• Support the preparation of management information and financial reporting.
• Respond professionally and efficiently to customer and supplier queries.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, and reporting.
• Work closely with the Finance Director to ensure the finance function operates effectively and accurately.

We're looking for an experienced finance professional with strong practical experience using Xero and a good understanding of sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control, and reconciliations. You'll have excellent attention to detail, strong numerical and analytical skills, and be confident working with spreadsheets and financial reports. Good communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
