Full Job Description

To assist the Finance Manager in providing strong accounts administrative support in the areas of General Ledger; Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Cashbook. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner in line with SPM Oil & Gas Quality procedures and LEAN principles.

What you'll do

General Ledger

  • Assist with the compilation and analysis of financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts, including recurring entries, prepaid, accruals/provisions, fixed assets, inventory and intercompany accounts, documenting business transactions.

  • Accounts Receivable
  • Daily processing of cash receipts;

  • Monthly/adhoc processing of rental invoices & credit memos;

  • Maintenance of customer details

  • Management of credit control, including efficient handling of any invoice/order queries, liaise with sales team to resolve all customer concerns;


  • Accounts Payable
  • Daily processing of supplier/service provider invoices & credit memos;

  • Administration of supplier/service provider payment runs;

  • Allocation of Direct Debits & Standing Orders to correct invoices;

  • Ensure VAT is properly accounted for on supplier/service provider invoices;

  • Ensure supplier/service provider contact lists are kept up to date and accurate;

  • Review Supplier Statements to ensure balances reflected in Financial Systems are correct and no items are missing;

  • Address supplier/service provider issues (pertaining to balances outstanding) as they arise, liaising with purchase originator where necessary.


  • Cashbook
  • Reconcile Company Bank Accounts on a monthly basis

  • Responsibility for accounting for all non-AP payments (electronic and cheque), including wages, salaries, HMRC payments and automated deductions (Direct Debits and Standing Orders)

  • Full transparency on overdue debt positions

  • Bank Accounts fully reconciled by close of business each month end

  • Full compliance with statutory return and payment deadlines

  • Supplier/service provider balances are properly accounted for without any unrecognised liabilities., Pending the number of applications, the criteria for the position may be enhanced to facilitate shortlisting. #LI-Hybrid

  • Top candidates will also have
  • Computerised Accounting systems experience

  • Experience of Accounts Payable financial systems

  • Experience of Accounts Receivable financial systems

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office packages particularly Excel
