Full Job Description

We are looking for an energetic, and enthusiastic activity coordinator who will bring passion and leadership skills to the overall activities provision in the Home. Your motivation will be underpinned by an appreciation of the unique atmosphere of our Home and ability to adhere to the Reformed Christian ethos., JOB PURPOSE: The Activity Co-ordinator will be responsible for planning and organising a programme of therapeutic and meaningful activities for each resident according to their individual needs, wishes, aspirations, faith and spiritual needs. To provide mental and physical stimulation in a way that promotes equality and diversity., 1. Organise a range of indoor activities appropriate to the capabilities and interests of each resident as detailed in their care plan.

2. Organise and arrange outside activities for residents.

3. Work as part of a team and co-operate with colleagues during times of staff shortage or illness to deliver a high standard of care.

4. Contribute to the health, safety and security of residents in their environment.

5. Promote the well-being of all residents within a Christian framework in a sensitive, caring manner, affording them dignity and respect.

6. Be willing to undertake any training courses deemed necessary.

7. As part of a team you must be willing to attend staff meetings. Take part in supervision and the appraisal system.

PERSONAL:

1. This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks.

  • To ensure the Christian Ethos of the Home is maintained and build the programme of activities around the spiritual needs of residents

  • To be able to support residents' spiritual needs such as psalm singing and reading the bible

  • Genuine interest in working with older adults

  • Experience and familiarity with dementia care and understanding of the unique needs of seniors

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members

  • Ability to plan and organize activities that are engaging, intellectually stimulating, and appropriate for the resident population

  • Possess a compassionate and patient demeanour when working with individuals who may have physical or cognitive limitations

  • Possess traditional homemaking skills in food and textiles, such as knitting, baking and crafts

  • Massage and personal grooming skills

  • Possess and demonstrates a creative flair

  • Enthusiasm and energy

  • Ability to work with residents on an individual and group basis

  • Ability to liaise with and coordinate the team of volunteers

  • Meticulous planning and record keeping

  • Sound organisational and IT skills

  • A driving Licence would be highly advantageous

    Ballifeary House is a highly regarded, small and friendly, 24-bed residential home for older adults, which belongs to the Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland. Our function and purpose is aimed at providing a non-institutional, Christian atmosphere; one that is caring, relaxed and happy. This atmosphere is homely and respects the individuality, dignity and rights of privacy of each individual and it encourages and enables residents to achieve their potential capacity - physically, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and socially.
