Teamwork and independent working on a day to day basis, you'll work on the hire desk in our Bathgate Depot learning the role of PTE hire in each of the sectors we serve e.g. construction, facilities, mechanical contractors. You will learn about our product range, operating methods, technical speciation's and how they are utilised by our customers. You will also learn the legal requirements, company procedures, hire terms and conditions, protocols and formats relating to the provision of technical and safety information.
How the Health & Safety at Work Act applies to your role including product maintenance and health & safety standards.
You will learn how to process hire transactions including completion of contract documentation for on-hire and off-hire, raising requisitions and equipment delivery procedures. The methods of preparing, creating and closing orders for hire and dispatching including checking of progress and the record keeping processes for lost hires.
Buckhurst Plant Hire Limited was established in 1993 by the Walsh Family. From beginning in a small yard with only a handful of machines the company has grown in size to now operating from four depots with over 2000 pieces of machinery and plant. We are looking for an apprentice to join our Hire Desk Depot in Bathgate, Scotland we are a friendly company that values your contribution and can offer you excellent training opportunities?
As an Apprentice, you will be enrolled in a blended learning programme where you will gain an SCQF Level 5 or 6 in Business Administration Modern Apprenticeship through a mixture of on-the-job experience and training through a leading college.
Our Apprenticeship Programme covers all the essential skills and principles you will need to become a Hire Desk Controller.
Our Apprenticeship Programme allows you to earn as you learn. Apprentices under 18 joining our programme you will be required to work a maximum of 40 hours per week
Apprentices over 18 joining our programme you will be required to work a minimum of 50 hours per week. First-year Salary will be in line with current government pay guidelines
After successful completion of Year 1, you will automatically be placed on the National Minimum Wage rate for your age group.
