This apprenticeship programme allows you to earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience in a real-world automotive environment
As a Vehicle Paint Technician Apprentice, you'll learn how to prepare and apply paint finishes to vehicles that have been repaired by body technicians. The role involves recognizing a variety of vehicle materials and understanding the preparation techniques required for high-quality finishes.
What will I learn? TYPICAL DAY
- Preparing vehicles to be painted after the damage has occurred or panels have been replaced, this can include repairing minor scratches to match the rest of the vehicle.
- Ensuring all parts are stripped from the vehicle for it to be painted.
- Sanding down relevant areas and adjoining areas for blending
- Masking out areas that will need to be treated.
- Etching and priming the area to be treated
- Selecting, mixing, and matching colour
SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN
- Excellent practical skills
- The ability to work quickly but also pay attention to detail.
- The ability to work well alone as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills
- The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
What qualifications or qualities are required?
- Nationals at level 4 or above in English and Math’s
- It is also preferred if you have a Craft Subject and physics/science these are advantageous but not mandatory.
- A desire to work in the Automotive Industry
- The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Confidence in problem-solving
