Full Job Description

The Apprenticeship and Skills Training Advisor will work within the Apprenticeship and Skills section to deliver client’s vocational and industry training needs. 


The post holder will be responsible for the apprentice review process, delivering on SDS contractual obligations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Contribute to the management of Glasgow Kelvin College client relationships.
  • Act as a point of contact between clients, apprentices and Glasgow Kelvin College for apprentice review activities. 
  • Regular visits to employers and other partners across Scotland. 
  • Conduct regular review meetings within the required SDS timescales with all apprentices and employers and record the information in the appropriate files and systems. 
  • Upload information to the VQ Management system, ensuring all apprentice records are fully up to date. 
  • Liaise with Glasgow Kelvin College teaching departments to ensure apprentices are provided with the services and support they require to achieve their qualification.
  • Assist in the MA recruitment process as required.
  • Assist in marketing and promotion events aimed at MA recruitment and industry training.
  • Assist with any other tasks as required by the Head of Apprenticeships and Skills

General:

  • Keep abreast of current developments which may be relevant to the College’s activity and future direction.
  • Promote and advance Equality and Diversity in all aspects of College operations.
  • Undertake appropriate training and development as identified through the personal development review.
  • Participate in self-evaluation activities in accordance with College procedures.
  • Respect the confidentiality of matters relating to learners and staff.
  • Understand your role and obligations in complying with the requirements of the regulatory framework for the College, both as a service provider and an employer, in particular the Data Protection Act, the UK General Data Protection Regulations and the Freedom of Information Act.
  • Report any accidental or unlawful loss of personal data in accordance with the College Data Protection Policy.
  • Ensure the Health and Safety of staff and students in all aspects of College activity by exercising a duty of care for personal health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions.
  • Carry out any other duty commensurate with the post as required by the Senior Management Team.
  • Comply with all role specific training and all compulsory training provided by the College, for example Health and Safety, equality and diversity, etc.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


Knowledge:

Demonstrable knowledge of

  • SDS MA contract delivery. 
  • Working with Modern Apprentices - apprentice review process and procedures.
  • Building services industry.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Workload planning.
  • Engaging with employers to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Effective team working skills.
  • Liaison and networking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively; and 
  • Excellent ICT skills with the ability to produce coherent, well-structured documents. 

Experience:

  • Apprenticeship review process and procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with employers
  • Standard operating procedures and practice with particular attention to detail.
