Job Title : Asset Inspector
Service Area : Roads Maintenance
Salary: Grade 6 (£32,742.45 - £35,061.00)
Hours: 36.25 hours per week

This role is part of a team responsible for carrying out statutory road asset safety inspections across the adopted public road network of Moray.
Inspections are undertaken by vehicle in rural areas and on foot within urban environments. As such, the role involves a significant amount of walking and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Additional duties include carrying out inspections of contractors and utility companies to ensure compliance with Street Works Regulations, investigating customer enquiries, and supporting Technicians and Engineers as required.
The Individual
We are looking for a motivated and organised individual with the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge and experience of road construction methods and maintenance procedures
- Good standard of English language and numeracy skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience of office software such as Word, Outlook and Excel (or equivalent)
- Experience of using web-based systems and applications
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deal effectively with members of the public, contractors and their representatives
- Ability to record and communicate inspection findings clearly and accurately
- Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines within a strict timetable
- Ability to accurately quantify and take site measurements
- Ability to interpret maps, drawings and specifications
- Ability to assess road-related defects and suggest appropriate repair techniques
- Willingness to undertake and maintain relevant training and accreditation
- Flexible approach to meet the needs of the service, including working outwith normal hours where required
- Ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of contacts
- Willingness to accept direction and delegated tasks
- Professional approach in all aspects of work
- Good manual dexterity and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
