iMultiply are delighted to be working with a well known national governing sports body looking for an Assistant Accountant at their office based in Glasgow. 


The Company 

This organisation is a well established sports governing body with the aim of delivering international sporting success, growing and effectively governing the sport whilst encouraging mass participation. 


The Role

As Assistant Accountant you will provide month end support and support the Finance Department with any other accounting needs.


As Assistant Accountant you will be involved in but not restricted to the following duties:

  • Assists with the preparation of monthly management accounts in accordance with the documented month end close procedure, including journal preparation, posting and reconciliations of key business areas.
  • Documentation of all month end processes and controls, helping identify, then aid, implementation of efficiency improvements.
  • Help ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to relevant budget holders within the business to support their decision making. This includes detailed transactional analysis extracted from Open Accounts and summarised in Excel.
  • Work with the business to help formulate their annual budget and planning process, as directed by the Management Accountant. This includes presentation of key assumptions and associated financial outputs.
  • Contribute to the quarterly financial reforecast process.
  • Ensure all key balance sheet control accounts reconciled on a monthly basis and others as agreed with the Management Accountant and Chief Financial Officer.
  • Provide help and advice to budget holders, with detailed review and scrutiny of all transactions. Subsequently assist with the presentation and understanding of the financials to the designated Heads of Department.
  • Supports the Management and Financial Accountant with delivery of year end trial balance, supporting schedules and information for external audit.
  • Supports the Management Accountant and Chief Financial Officer on providing transactional analysis and associated reports of other business areas as directed.
  • Supports the administration and maintenance of the financial systems as well as identifying ways to improve processes and become more efficient.
  • Supports the finance team with the processing of referee payments and associated auto enrolment procedures
  • Supports the finance team with any other reasonable duties which may be requested from time to time.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have the following:

  • Gained experience in a similar role
  • Strong excel and numeracy skills
  • Problem solving – and a proven ability to use your own initiative
  • Great organisational skills – prioritising your workload and working independently, whilst also being a strong team player
  • Brilliant communication skills, written and verbal

On Offer

This is a Permanent Full-Time role based in Glasgow, an easily accessible location with multiple transportation routes. The role offers a salary of £28-32,000, hybrid working, pension and generous holiday allowance.
