Assistant Accountant

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working exclusively with its client to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join a high-performing finance team. The organisation is a well-established and growing manufacturing business as part of a wider international group.

Reporting to the Accountant, this is a varied and hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of the finance function. You will play a key part in ensuring accurate financial processing, maintaining strong controls, and supporting the preparation of management information.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process, verify, and manage supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments
• Raise customer invoices and liaise with internal teams to resolve queries
• Process employee expenses and manage petty cash
• Perform regular reconciliations of supplier and customer statements
• Monitor and review aged creditors and debtors, following up on outstanding balances
• Support sales analysis and reporting, working closely with finance and operational teams
• Assist with the preparation of monthly accruals and prepayments
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
• Support intercompany reconciliations across UK and European entities
• Assist in month-end processes and management accounts preparation
• Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions and disposals
• Manage the finance inbox and respond to queries professionally and efficiently

About You:

• Strong understanding of core accounting principles, including P&L and balance sheet
• Experience with reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across departments
• Confident using finance systems and Excel
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop
