Are you an ambitious Quantity Surveying graduate or trainee looking to build a successful career in construction? Our client - a well-established and highly respected contractor - is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, working alongside experienced professionals while continuing your professional development.
The Opportunity
You’ll support a Project Surveyor in managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects, ensuring costs are controlled and projects are delivered profitably.
This role offers excellent exposure to:
- Pre-construction and tendering
- Subcontract procurement
- Cost management and valuations
- Contract administration
- Client and stakeholder interaction
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in reviewing client briefs and defining project scope
- Support estimating, bills of quantities, and pricing schedules
- Help manage subcontractor enquiries, procurement, and agreements
- Contribute to project meetings and maintain contract documentation
- Assist with valuations, invoicing, and payment applications
- Support subcontractor payments and variation management
- Re-measure works from site and drawings
- Help prepare cost/value reconciliations and performance reports
- Assist in agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors
- Provide general commercial and contract management support
What Our Client Is Looking For
- HNC or BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
- Some relevant industry experience
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- A methodical and organised approach to work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Confident communication skills (written and verbal)
- IT proficiency (Microsoft Office; knowledge of Coins or BIM 360 advantageous)
- A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn
- Full UK driving licence
