Full Job Description

The Portfolio Management (PM) team exists to build and optimise LBGs Commercial Banking portfolio, which includes Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) lending.

The team is responsible for delivering an efficient use of financial resources (e.g. capital, liquidity, funding) to create space to do more with our clients, whilst improving value for shareholders.

Key to achieving this is our Structured Distribution team within PM. Our team is responsible for developing, executing and managing a range of structured transactions which aim to increase origination capacity, reduce risk and increase returns.

This includes risk distribution / mitigation techniques (e.g. our Significant Risk Transfer programme) and leveraging third party capital (e.

g. our Originate to Distribute / forward flow lending platforms).

We have a new exciting Associate Director opportunity where you'll support the creation of these structured transactions, through bringing together specialist teams and working with third parties (advisors and investors) to bring new capital to BCB and CIB.

Core purpose of the role :

You'll represent the PM Structured Distribution team and deliver solutions on behalf of BCB and CIB through :

Work with coverage and product teams to identify areas of opportunity and growth and opportunity

Assess options available to overcome blockers for growth e.g. synthetic securitisation, cash securitisation, co-investment, sub-participation, etc

Analyse data to understand the size of the opportunity and create models to forecast economic impact

Work closely with structuring and syndicate teams to gauge appetite from institutional investors

Work with arrangers, legal counsel and advisors to structure new transactions with investors

A motivated and hard-working individual who can act as principal on the structured transaction process. We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate the following :

Role Specific Skills

Ability to read and commercially negotiate complex legal documents (e.g. term sheets)

Knowledge of structuring within securitisation, project finance or other structured finance solutions

Broad understanding of accounting and tax implications relating to different structures

Good network within the advisor / investor community

Good understanding and application of the financial metrics used to analyse Bank balance sheets

Understanding of broader economic trends and changes impacting the Balance Sheet

Transferable Skills

Ability to manage projects, prioritise multiple deliverables and deliver to agreed timescales

Good analytical capability, can produce cash flow models / financial analysis to inform decision-making

Strategic approach with the ability to think laterally, be innovative and find creative solutions

Strong communication & interpersonal skills to present sophisticated information in a simple way
