They are now looking for a proactive Associate/Principal Engineer with a mechanical engineering background to support the delivery of major water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects. Role Overview
In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of mechanical engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects, providing technical leadership and expertise throughout the project lifecycle. This role offers the opportunity to influence project outcomes, shape technical approaches, and contribute to the growth of our engineering capability. You will mentor and support the development of engineers within the team, provide technical assurance, and play a key role in maintaining engineering standards and driving continuous improvement.
Collaboration is central to the role. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams - including civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and control & instrumentation engineers - as well as construction, operations, clients, contractors, and other external stakeholders to deliver safe, innovative, and high-quality engineering solutions that meet client and business objectives.

* Lead the specification, selection, and technical evaluation of mechanical equipment, plant, and systems.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project delivery.

* Support the preparation of proposals, fee estimates, scopes of work, and technical inputs for bids and tenders
* Engage with clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to develop effective working relationships and resolve technical issues
* Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities as required
* Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and the application of new technologies and engineering practices
* Contribute to resource planning, technical capability development, and discipline growth
* Support business development activities through client engagement and the development of trusted relationships
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or demonstrable progress towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution.
* Significant mechanical engineering experience delivering complex projects within the water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, industrial, or process engineering sectors.
* Experience in the design and delivery of mechanical systems such as pumps, pipework, valves, pressure systems, hydraulic calculations, mechanical plant, and associated process equipment.
* Proven ability to lead the technical delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through to completion.
* Strong understanding of mechanical engineering design principles, applicable standards, legislation, and industry best practice.
* Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
