Full Job Description

Your new company
A well-established and growing independent accountancy practice is seeking an experienced audit manager to join its team in Edinburgh. The firm works with a broad range of clients across the SME, owner-managed business, and not-for-profit sectors, offering a collaborative and relationship-focused approach to client service. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work and maintaining long-term client relationships, the firm provides a supportive environment where employees are encouraged to develop professionally and take ownership of their portfolio. This opportunity would suit an ambitious audit professional looking to join a respected practice with genuine scope for progression.

Your new role
In this role, you will manage a varied portfolio of audit clients, taking responsibility for the full audit process from planning through to completion. You will work closely with clients across a range of sectors, overseeing assignments, reviewing work prepared by junior staff, and ensuring deadlines and compliance standards are met. Alongside audit responsibilities, you will also be involved in accounts preparation work and wider client advisory support, allowing for a broad and varied workload. You will play a key role in developing client relationships, supporting and mentoring junior team members, and working closely with senior leadership across the practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional seeking a visible and varied role within a collaborative and people-focused environment.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be CA or ACCA qualified, with previous experience gained within a UK accountancy practice environment. Strong external audit experience is essential, alongside exposure to accounts preparation and managing client relationships. Experience working with clients across a range of sectors, including not-for-profit organisations, would be advantageous. You should possess strong communication and organisational skills, alongside the ability to manage workloads effectively and support the development of junior staff. The successful candidate will be proactive, personable, and motivated to contribute positively within a collaborative team environment.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will join a supportive and well-regarded practice offering a competitive salary, flexible working arrangements, and genuine long-term career development opportunities. You will gain exposure to a varied and interesting client portfolio while working within a collaborative and professional environment that values both employee development and high-quality client service.
