Full Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Bonding Technician to join our production team on a 12 month Fixed Term contract, supporting the assembly and bonding of precision optical and mechanical components. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in producing high-quality products, and can work effectively within a collaborative manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for following established processes and work instructions to assemble, bond, inspect, and verify components while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and accuracy. What You'll Be Doing Precision Bonding & Adhesive Application
- Perform bonding operations using a variety of adhesives, chemicals, and application techniques suited to different materials and assemblies.
- Prepare, handle, and cure bonding agents in accordance with established procedures and quality requirements.
- Maintain a clean and controlled working environment to ensure product quality and process consistency.
- Follow all safety, quality, and handling guidelines when working with adhesives and chemicals. Optical & Mechanical Assembly
- Assemble small optical and mechanical components using detailed work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
- Handle delicate and precision-engineered parts with care, ensuring accurate alignment and assembly.
- Conduct visual inspections and basic testing to verify product quality and assembly integrity.
- Record and maintain assembly documentation as required. Quality, Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and support teams to ensure production objectives are met.
- Identify and report issues relating to materials, equipment, processes, or product quality.
- Contribute to a positive team culture and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with additional production and assembly activities as required.
Previous assembly experience, ideally involving small, intricate, or delicate components. - Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
- Ability to follow written procedures, technical instructions, and verbal guidance accurately.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to work independently once trained while maintaining high quality standards.
- Eligibility to work in the UK. Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience within optical, mechanical, electronics, or precision manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with assembly, production, or manufacturing processes.
- Experience working within a cleanroom or other controlled environment.
- Knowledge of adhesive bonding techniques, including UV-cure adhesives.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, diagrams, or assembly instructions. Personal Attributes
