Your New Company
Our client is a leading infrastructure services organisation responsible for the management, maintenance and improvement of critical transport assets across Scotland. Due to continued investment within their structures portfolio, they are seeking an experienced Bridge Manager to oversee the safe operation, inspection, maintenance and delivery of bridge and structures works.
Your New Role
As Bridge Manager, you will take responsibility for the management of a portfolio of highway structures, ensuring that inspections, maintenance activities and improvement schemes are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
Working closely with operational, engineering and commercial teams, you will lead the planning and execution of structures programmes, manage specialist contractors and ensure asset performance is maintained throughout the lifecycle of the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of bridge and highway structure assets.
- Oversee principal, general and special inspections in accordance with industry standards.
- Develop maintenance, repair and renewal programmes for structures assets.
- Manage structures projects from planning through to completion.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- Review inspection reports and prioritise maintenance interventions.
- Manage specialist contractors, consultants and subcontractors.
- Monitor programme delivery, costs and asset performance.
- Provide technical input into asset management and investment strategies.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies and stakeholders.
- Support emergency response activities relating to structures defects or incidents.
- Ensure all records, inspections and asset information are accurately maintained.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Experience managing bridge, structures or civil engineering maintenance projects.
- Strong understanding of bridge inspection, maintenance and asset management principles.
- Knowledge of DMRB standards and UK bridge inspection requirements.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and HSEQ requirements.
- Excellent planning, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and technical reports.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, or working towards professional accreditation.
- Experience within highways or local authority structures environments.
- Knowledge of asset management systems and bridge management software.
- Temporary works and construction management experience.
- NEBOSH, SMSTS or equivalent safety qualification.
