Full Job Description
Job purpose: BUSINESS & COMMERCIAL APPRENTICE
Want to learn how a real business actually works?
Grant Foods is looking for an ambitious Business & Commercial Apprentice to join our team.
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend a year making tea, filing paperwork and watching from the sidelines.
You’ll be given real projects, real responsibility and real exposure to different areas of our business.
Throughout the year, you’ll work alongside our management team and gain hands-on experience across:
- Sales & Business Development
- Marketing & Social Media
- Commercial Projects
- Customer & Account Management
- Business Administration
- Data & Reporting
- New Product & Market Opportunities
- Project Management
- Presentations & Research
One month you could be helping develop a marketing campaign. The next you could be researching a new customer or market, analysing sales information, supporting a commercial project or helping bring a new product idea to life.
The Apprenticeship
Alongside your role, you will work towards an SVQ in Business and Administration – SCQF Level 6
You’ll develop practical business skills while gaining a recognised qualification - and, importantly, you'll be able to put what you learn into practice every day.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are more interested in attitude and potential than a long CV.
You might be right for this role if you are:
- Confident and willing to communicate with people
- Commercially curious and interested in how businesses make money
- Comfortable using computers, social media and Microsoft Office
- Organised and able to manage different tasks
- Full of ideas and willing to contribute them
- Happy to pick up the phone and speak to customers
- Keen to learn about sales and marketing
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ambitious and looking for the beginning of a career - not simply a job
You do not need previous business experience.
We are looking for someone who wants to learn.
What You'll Get
You’ll gain exposure to areas of business that can take years to experience in a traditional entry-level role. You’ll work closely with experienced members of the team, be trusted with your own projects and develop an understanding of sales, marketing, commercial decision-making and how an established manufacturing business operates.
For the right person, this could be the first step towards a career in sales, marketing, commercial management or wider business management.
About Grant Foods
Grant is an independent Scottish food manufacturer with more than a century of history behind us. We manufacture products for customers across retail, wholesale, foodservice and export markets - while continuing to develop new products, customers and opportunities for the future.
We’re a relatively small business, which means you won’t disappear into a huge corporate structure.
You'll actually get to see how the whole business works.
Eligibility
Due to the funding criteria attached to this apprenticeship qualification, applicants must be aged 18–24.
If you’re ambitious, switched on and want an opportunity to learn business by actually doing business, we’d like to hear from you.
Apply with your CV and tell us why you think you’d be a great addition to the team.
