Full Job Description

If you don't drive and don't have access to your own vehicle, unfortunately this role isn't suitable. Our Care Assistants travel between customers' homes throughout Glasgow South, so being a confident driver with access to your own reliable vehicle is an essential part of the role. Could You Be the Person Someone Looks Forward to Seeing Every Day? Imagine knowing that your visit could be the best part of someone's day. For many of the people we support, a Care Assistant is much more than someone who provides practical care. You're a familiar face, a friendly voice, a reassuring presence and someone they can trust. At Bluebird Care Glasgow South, we believe great care starts with treating people as individuals - with kindness, dignity, patience and genuine compassion. Whether you're helping someone start their morning, preparing their favourite meal, supporting them with personal care, reminding them about their medication, or simply sitting down for a cup of tea and a chat, the little things you do can make a huge difference. Your care can help someone remain independent, stay connected to their community and continue living safely and happily in the home they love. What You'll Do As a Care Assistant, you'll provide compassionate, person-centred care in people's own homes. Your day could include:

  • Building genuine, trusting relationships with the people you support
  • Providing personal care with dignity, kindness and respect
  • Helping customers maintain their independence and daily routines
  • Supporting with getting ready, dressing and personal care
  • Preparing meals and supporting with nutrition and hydration
  • Supporting customers with medication and their general wellbeing
  • Helping with light household tasks to keep their home safe and comfortable
  • Providing companionship, conversation and emotional support
  • Accompanying customers where appropriate and helping them remain connected to their community
  • Following individual care plans and respecting each person's choices and preferences
  • Travelling between customers' homes and providing reliable, consistent care
  • Being someone customers and their families can depend on
  • No two customers are the same, and that's what makes this role so rewarding. Driving Is Essential for This Role Because you'll be travelling between customers' homes across Glasgow South, you must:
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Have access to your own vehicle
  • Be comfortable driving between customer visits
  • Have a reliable means of transport for work

You don't need previous professional care experience to join our team.
  • We can teach you the skills. What we can't teach is genuine kindness. We're looking for people who naturally care about others, treat people with respect and want to make a real difference in someone's life. You could be a great fit if you are:
  • Kind, compassionate and genuinely caring
  • Patient and understanding
  • A good listener and communicator
  • Reliable, trustworthy and professional
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Respectful of people's privacy, dignity and choices
  • Able to follow care plans and instructions
  • Passionate about helping people live independently
  • A confident driver with a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential. Full training will be provided.

More Than a Job. It's Someone's Life. The work you do may seem simple - helping someone get dressed, preparing lunch, making a cup of tea, reminding them about medication or taking the time to listen. But to the person you're supporting, those moments can mean everything. You could be the reason someone feels less lonely. You could give a family peace of mind knowing their loved one is safe. You could help someone stay in their own home for longer. And you could become the familiar face that someone genuinely looks forward to seeing at the door. That's the difference a Care Assistant can make. If you're a caring, dependable person who wants a job with purpose - and you have a full UK driving licence and your own vehicle - we'd love to hear from you. Ready to Make a Difference? Join Bluebird Care Glasgow South and help people live the life they choose, in the place they call home. PVG checks and references will be undertaken in line with government regulations and recruitment best practices.
