About the Role
The Army United Kingdom offers an annual salary of £27,282 (after training). Master your craft and learn to use it all over the world. As a full-time soldier, entry-level Carpenter in the British Army, you'll:
- Plan carpentry and joinery tasks from sketches and apply them in the field.
- Learn to use and maintain workshop machinery.
- Prepare timber for use, manufacture joints, use adhesives, produce windows, door frames, and fitments.
- Carry out general construction work including first-fix timber frames and second-fix joinery fitments.
- Construct scaffolding, interpret scaffold terms, erect access scaffolds, and install ladders.
- Install partitions, floors, roofing, timber-framed buildings, formwork, and shoring.
- Study for carpentry qualifications (including Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Carpentry and Joining (Military Engineering) and Level 2 apprenticeship).
Qualifications Needed
- Be between 16 years 6 months and 35 years 6 months.
- Have a GCSE Grade A-C/9-5 or Scottish National 5 in Maths, English Language, and one other subject.
- Be able to pass a basic fitness test.
