Full Job Description

ASCO require a fully qualified Forklift Operator to support our CCU operations in the safe and efficient loading/offloading of cargo from vessels, vehicles and Base areas, conducted in accordance with all procedures and regulations. Candidates must be currently qualified to operate a Forklift.

Roles & Responsibilities

General

  • Conduct daily checks and complete associated compliance documentation.


  • Assist Fitter as and when required in the maintenance of Forklift.


  • Perform forklift duties as per operational requirements


  • Visually inspect all cargo prior to lifting in compliance with procedure, with particular emphasis on snagging hazards or loose objects, and capture all non-compliant cargo and report back to relevant responsible person..


  • Safely load/offload cargo to/from vehicles


  • Manage inbound and outbound cargo on the base to enable efficient handling


  • Assist with Gantry Inspection as and when required


  • Ensure the correct use of Forklifts and Lifting equipment as set out in legislative and procedural policy; If authorised to carry out lifting activities (Forklift Operations / Banksman & Slinger duties), ensure that they are carried out in accordance with the Company's Group Operating Procedures and Global Lifting Procedures


  • Ensure that formal procedures, standing instructions and safety standards are complied with at all times.


  • Must be available to work at other locations this includes ASCO sites or ASCO client sites as required


  • Must be flexible regarding working additional hours as required due to operational requirements

    Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, flexible and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.


  • Numerate, with strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.


  • Ability to work stand-alone while also being a positive contributor to the wider team.


  • Solutions based, strong analytical, planning & organising skills, an excellent attention to detail.


  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Forklift Certificate


  • Dangerous Goods Awareness, OPITO Banksman/Slinger Training - Stage 3/4

    A current Biometric Immigration Document (Biometric Residence Permit) issued by the Home Office to the holder which indicates that the named person can currently stay in the UK and is allowed to do the work in question
    A current Immigration Status Document containing a photograph issued by the Home Office to the holder with a valid endorsement indicating that the named person may stay in the UK, and is allowed to do the type of work in question, together with an official document giving the person's permanent National Insurance number and their name issued by a Government agency or a previous employer
    An Application Registration Card issued by the Home Office stating that the holder is permitted to take the employment in question
