Full Job Description

As a Chef or Cook , you will be responsible for preparing and cooking delicious meals, snacks, ensuring they meet our standards of freshness, taste, and presentation. You will collaborate with the management team to develop seasonal menus that incorporate locally sourced ingredients when possible, catering to diverse dietary preferences and requirements.,

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including breakfast, lunch, light meals and snacks, adhering to recipes and portion sizes.

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area, following food safety regulations and guidelines.

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, placing orders for ingredients and supplies as needed to minimize waste and ensure availability.

  • Work closely with the front-of-house staff to coordinate food orders, ensuring timely service and customer satisfaction.

  • Adapt menus to accommodate special dietary needs, allergies, and preferences of customers.

  • Stay updated on food trends, industry best practices, and relevant regulations to continuously improve food quality and service.

  • Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to standard operating procedures and maintain a safe working environment.

  • Collaborate with management to plan and execute special events, promotions, and themed menus to attract and retain customers.

  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner, striving to resolve issues promptly and effectively.

  • Contribute to the overall success of the garden centre by promoting food offerings, participating in marketing initiatives, and maximizing revenue opportunities.

    Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in a similar environment, preferably within the hospitality or food service industry.

  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and sanitation standards.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to work days, including weekends and holidays, as per business needs.(earliest start 730/8am - latest finish 530pm)

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
