Full Job Description
As a Civil Engineer, you'll work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team playing a key role in supporting both current operations and future programmes. Working alongside engineers from a range of disciplines-including Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Building Services, and Piping-you'll help develop and maintain robust Engineering Design Substantiation. In this role, you'll ensure that design intent, critical safety factors, and operational requirements are fully met, while maintaining compliance with industry best practice and all relevant legislative and regulatory standards. Your work will be central to ensuring the safety, integrity, and performance of essential infrastructure within a highly regulated environment.
- You have experience in assessing the design of reinforced concrete and steel structures, including their ability to withstand dynamic loads such as seismic activity, blast, wind, rain, and snow.
- You bring hands-on experience working with reinforced concrete structures, including seawalls and jetties.
- You have a strong track record of producing robust technical justifications to support civil and structural design modifications within high-hazard industries.
- You're able to apply both theoretical and practical engineering methods across the full lifecycle of systems and structures-from design and construction through to operation, maintenance, and decommissioning-within nuclear or other high-risk environments.
- You use a blend of general and specialist engineering knowledge to apply both existing and emerging technologies effectively.
- You have a solid understanding of current industry codes and standards, including British Standards and Eurocodes.
