Full Job Description

  • To maintain the college premises to a high standard of cleanliness; required to clean all rooms, including classrooms, offices, toilets, cloakrooms, staircases, corridors, halls and all other areas in use
  • In consultation with the Cleaning Supervisor, to identify any cleaning issues and put in the required cleaning process to rectify
  • To monitor stocks of cleaning equipment and materials in order that orders can be placed on a timely basis.
  • Duties and responsibilities
  • To be responsible for cleaning certain parts of the site as allocated by the cleaner in charge (this will vary from time to time), usually working with another member of the cleaning team.
  • To use cleaning materials as instructed by the caretaker.
  • To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, e.g. vacuum cleaners and polishers.
  • To maintain confidentiality in respect of college-related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.
  • Duties to include the following:
  • Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors
  • Spot cleaning of spillages
  • Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass and windows
  • Emptying and cleaning waste and recycling bins
  • Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds
  • Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
  • Wiping and polishing and straightening furniture
  • Replenishing supplies in toilets and classrooms, etc
  • Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work
  • During holiday periods when the college is closed, or annual deep cleans routine cleaning is undertaken throughout the school. This may include removing chewing gum, high level dusting, wall washing, moving furniture to deep clean classrooms, etc.
  • Undertake any additional cleaning duties as directed, by the Cleaning Supervisor or Soft Services Manager
  • All defects/hazards must be immediately reported to the Cleaner in charge
  • To ensure that all Health & Safety procedures are followed, in accordance with company policies.

    Experience in a cleaning environment, preferably multi-site,
  • BICSc certification to an appropriate level(not essential)
  • A pro-active attitude.
  • Self-driven.
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to form relationships with clients and to exceed customer expectation.
  • Approachable demeanour and a demonstrable commitment to team working.
  • A track record of delivering a similar role.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development in relation to themselves and their team members.
