We have a new and exciting Community Advisor vacancy to join our existing team at the Fife One Stop Shop. This role focuses specifically on the delivery of our Family Flourish Service.

Family Flourish is delivered as part of Our Minds Matter, a framework funded by Fife Health and Social Care Partnership. It is a Fife-wide service supporting neurodivergent children and young people, and their families, to support and improve mental health and emotional wellbeing. This role is central to the delivery of our Family Flourish Service and comprises of two complementary strands of work;

  2. Drop in advice, support and signposting for parents and carers of neurodivergent children and young people (aged 5-15)

You will work flexibly across both strands, delivering tailored support that recognises and affirms neurodivergent experiences whilst supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing, but also empowering families with the tools, confidence and connections they need.

Within this role you will work alongside the One Stop Shop Senior Community Advisor and wider stakeholders to;

  • Provide information, advice, support and guidance to neurodivergent children and young people, families, and interested professionals.
  • Offer support to neurodivergent children and young people, and their parents and carers through the One Stop Shop’s Family Flourish Programme.
  • Deliver and facilitate a range of inclusive, accessible opportunities to neurodivergent children and young people and their parents and carers.
  • Maintain relevant resources that are accessible and available to those who access the Family Flourish Programme.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the needs of neurodivergent children and young people and their families within the Fife community.
  • Collaboratively identify areas of development to ensure neurodivergent children and young people and their family’s needs are met.
  • Record and manage workstreams effectively, ensuring high quality, safe practice.

The successful candidate will have;

  • Lived Experience and/or autism practice, with the ability to apply theory into real-world settings.
  • Experience of Early Years and/or Youth Work.
  • Experience of engaging with children and young people through a variety of approaches, including play-based methods.
  • Contemporary knowledge and understanding of autism and neurodivergence across the lifespan.
  • Experience of supporting complex situations where a person might be experiencing heightened levels of distress or confusion.
  • Active listening skills and able to respond empathetically.
  • Ability to translate complex theoretical knowledge into accessible and practical advice.
  • Ability to work in a diverse range of settings to deliver and facilitate support appropriate to the needs of different audiences (children, young people, parents, carers, professionals).
  • Ability to self-manage and to organise diverse work streams.
  • Ability to collaborate and work closely with others.
  • Share Scottish Autism’s values; Collaboration, Compassion, Change Makers, Contribution.
