About the Role
Giffnock North Amateur Athletic Club is looking for an experienced, reliable and enthusiastic Cook to join our team.
With a newly equipped kitchen and a growing food offering, this is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in producing good-quality, consistent food and enjoys working in a busy community environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of food for club members, visitors and guests. You will play an important role in maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, presentation and customer service.
The role will involve working during busy periods, including match days, weekends, functions, club events and other busy service periods, so the ability to remain organised and work efficiently under pressure is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve high-quality food to a consistent standard.
- Follow agreed recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including a Rational oven.
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen organisation.
- Ensure all food safety and HACCP procedures are followed at all times.
- Manage multiple orders efficiently during busy service periods.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with stock rotation, storage and ordering where required.
- Minimise food waste through effective preparation and portion control.
- Assist with food preparation and catering for club functions, events and match days.
- Maintain appropriate food storage and ensure ingredients are used within required dates.
- Work closely with club staff and volunteers to ensure an efficient, friendly and welcoming service.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen and working environment.
- Contribute ideas to help develop and improve the club's food offering.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Cook in a busy kitchen environment.
- Experience using a Rational oven is essential.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and HACCP procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative when required.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, hardworking and flexible approach.
- Good attention to detail.
- Pride in producing high-quality, consistent food.
- A positive and friendly approach when dealing with club members and customers.
- We will offer full refresh training on the Rational oven
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience working in a sports club, social club, café, pub or similar community environment.
- Experience catering for functions, events or large groups.
- Experience with menu development or introducing new dishes.
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience with stock control and food ordering.
