Full Job Description

The course leader post requires an experienced Production Accounting professional for film and/or television with a solid understanding, knowledge and practical experience of industry customs and practices.

As Course Leader - Production Accounting you will:

1. Impart knowledge to and inspire the next generation of film and television-makers.
2. Take part in the selection of students to ensure the most talented students secure a place at the NFTS.
3. Monitor and mark the work of each individual student, attending discussions to make sure participants receive proper analysis of all their work at each stage together with practical recommendations.
4. Provide familiarisation for other production roles in order to provide context and a broad understanding of production workflow and the Production Accountant's role in that.
5. Review, revise as required for HETV as well as feature films and lead the Production Accounting curriculum in consultation with the Curriculum Advisory Group.
6. Monitor expenditure, working closely with the Head of NFTS Scotland to maintain budgetary control, ensuring the department keeps within its financial limits.
7. Take an active part in identifying and recruiting a range of guest speakers, keeping up-to-date lists and liaising with the Head of NFTS Scotland to work within the budget.
8. Take responsibility for the Health & Safety of all persons engaged in Department activities, reporting any H&S matters arising and ensuring appropriate Risk Assessments are in place.
9. Undertaking any other duties as may be reasonably required in the position.

This post requires an experienced film and/or television production accounting professional with solid understanding, knowledge and practical experience of the industry

- Experience at a senior level in Production Accounting, either as Financial Controller or Production Accountant, ideally with experience in both feature films and HETV.

- An essential quality is the ability to recognise and foster potential talent, whilst also ensuring students reach the technical standards required of them.

- Course Leaders need to be adept at running their area smoothly and efficiently.

- Course Leaders are expected to inspire enthusiasm amongst the students and guests for whom they are responsible.

- Good interpersonal skills are essential.

NFTS Scotland - Glasgow (primarily online)
Contract basis:

  • Pre-course prep to be discussed

  • Delivery: 26 x sessions over 9 months, primarily online but including in person sessions in either Glasgow or London/Beaconsfield

  • Marking and review to be discussed (dependent on cohort numbers)

  • Responsible to: Head of NFTS Scotland
    Rate: Fee basis, equivalent to £250 per day, dependent on experience,
