We are recruiting Care Workers on a fixed term basis (12 months) to join our Crisis Response Team, a community‑based service delivering essential support within individuals’ own homes. The service operates 24 hours a day; therefore, shift working will be required (specific shift patterns to be confirmed).

 The following posts are available:

  • 7 × Care Workers – 21 hours per week, worked over 7 days (fixed term, 12 months)
  • 1 × Care Worker – 21 hours per week, weekends only (fixed term, 12 months)

As a member of the team, a primary function will be to provide short term supports to individual to return from hospital or to prevent admission, in addition to other aspects of service delivery such as:

  • Assisting individuals who have fallen but are uninjured
  • Responding to telecare alerts when individuals activate their pendant alarm or when no movement is detected in their home

This is a highly rewarding and varied role where no two days are the same. You should enjoy working with people, demonstrate empathy, and be committed to delivering high‑quality care within the community.

It is essential that candidate have the following:

  • Experience working in a community‑based care setting
  • Literacy and numeracy skills appropriate to the role
  • Knowledge of a wide range of health-related issues
  • SVQ Level 2 (Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 6) or willingness to work towards achieving it to meet SSSC registration requirements
  • A full driving licence

 This position requires registration with the SSSC.  The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC.  SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date.  If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account

 This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
