Full Job Description
As an AB Deck Rating in our Maritime Services team, you'll play a vital role in supporting the safe operation of vessels and maritime facilities. This opportunity is ideal for experienced maritime professionals as well as newly qualified Officer of the Watch (OOW) candidates seeking to gain hands-on operational experience within a professional maritime environment. Your work will help ensure essential marine services are delivered safely, efficiently, and reliably in support of important operations.
Working as part of a skilled team, you'll contribute to activities that support operational readiness, safety, and environmental responsibility. From mooring and vessel movements to maintenance and equipment operation, your work has purpose and helps create a positive impact on communities and the future of maritime services. You'll be trusted to work safely, collaborate with colleagues, and take pride in delivering high standards every day.
What you'll do as an AB Deck Rating
- Support vessel berthing, slipping and anchoring operations.
- Carry out rope handling, mooring activities and other deck operations.
- Perform ship husbandry and general maintenance tasks.
- Operate deck machinery and cranes in line with training and qualifications.
- Assist with the repair and maintenance of vessel equipment.
- Follow health, safety and environmental procedures, including measures to prevent pollution.
· Newly qualified Officer of the Watch (OOW) candidates who are keen to develop practical vessel operations experience are encouraged to apply.
- Hold qualifications relevant to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency certification requirements for the role.
- Have good communication skills and work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrate strong health, safety and environmental awareness.
- Can adapt to changing operational requirements and maintain composure in challenging situations.
Are able to obtain Home Office Security Clearance.
