Design Manager – Main Contractor (Elgin)

Contract Scotland are representing a leading main contractor in the search for an experienced Design Manager to join their team in Elgin.

This is a key role overseeing the full design process across major construction projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and seamless coordination from pre-construction through to delivery.

About the Role

• Oversee and manage the full contractor design process throughout the project lifecycle
• Ensure strict adherence to all design and build procedures, with Health & Safety and quality as core priorities
• Maintain alignment with the design and delivery programme at all times
• Coordinate external consultants, subcontractors, and internal design teams
• Develop, manage, and finalise work packages in line with project requirements
• Ensure all design elements meet project specifications, drawings, and quality expectations
• Manage design information flow across subcontractor packages
• Chair design coordination meetings and subcontractor design meetings as required
• Take responsibility for contract administration relating to contractor design packages
• Support monthly reporting on design progress, risk, procurement, and off-site manufacture
• Assist the commercial team with subcontract issues and any deviations from tendered scope

About You

• Degree qualified in a construction-related discipline
• Extensive experience in a Design Management role within the construction industry
• Confident decision-maker with a calm, adaptable approach to challenges
• Strong communicator with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders
• Ambitious and motivated to progress your career within a forward-thinking environment
