Full Job Description
My client is a long established company based in Perth, designing and building commercial projects throughout mainland Scotland. With an in-house design office of 4 qualified technicians, integrated with estimating, procurement, steel fabrication and site teams, they deliver turnkey building solutions across commercial, industrial and warehouse buildings, distilleries, food processing and cold storage facilities, and specialist residential projects. Due to continued growth they are now looking to appoint a Design team lead.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· In-house design coordination from feasibility through to planning, building warrant, roads construction consent and service connections, to site handover and post-completion support
· Management of an in-house technical team of four, alongside external consultants covering planning and warrant submissions, structural and civil engineering, ground investigations, drainage, service applications, and M&E and specialist work
· Member of the Management team with regular reporting
· Client engagement throughout the design and delivery process
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
· Qualified architect
· Experience leading mutli-disciplinary teams with the ability to work to tight deadlines
· Strong IT capabilities particularly with CAD and AI Systems (Claude and ChatGpT) and project management
THE PERSON
The successful candidate will bring a positive, energetic approach to a senior role within a growing business. You'll be a natural team leader, comfortable managing a multi-disciplinary design team alongside a broad range of external consultants, and confident balancing several live projects against tight programme deadlines. Strong communication and client-facing skills are essential, as is the ability to make sound decisions under pressure while maintaining the quality and attention to detail our projects demand.
