Full Job Description

Job purpose: Western College of Sciences is seeking a motivated Digital Marketing & Administration Apprentice to support our digital communications, online presence and administrative activities while working towards the Digital Applications Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6.

The apprentice will gain practical experience supporting website content, social media and digital marketing activities, responding to online enquiries, preparing digital documents, maintaining electronic records and assisting with general administrative tasks.

This opportunity is designed for someone interested in developing practical digital and administrative skills within an education environment. Training and guidance will be provided throughout the apprenticeship, alongside structured learning towards the apprenticeship qualification.

What will I learn? During the apprenticeship, you will develop practical digital and workplace skills including digital administration, creating and managing digital documents, website content management, social media and digital marketing, online communication, data handling and record keeping.

You will also develop skills in using digital applications effectively, working collaboratively online, organising information, communicating professionally with students and colleagues, supporting online enquiries, and maintaining accurate electronic records.

Alongside your day-to-day work, you will develop problem-solving, time management, teamwork, customer service and professional communication skills while working towards the Digital Applications Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 6.

What qualifications or qualities are required? Minimum criteria: Applicants should have a good standard of written and spoken English and basic numeracy skills, together with demonstrable confidence using computers, email, web-based applications and Microsoft Office or equivalent productivity software.

Applicants should demonstrate strong attention to detail, professional communication skills, good organisation and time management, and the ability to work independently, follow instructions and meet deadlines.

Candidates should have a genuine interest in digital technology, digital marketing, administration and education, and be comfortable learning new software and online systems.

Desirable criteria: Previous experience with website content management, social media, Canva or similar design tools, spreadsheets, CRM or student-management systems, digital marketing, analytics or AI productivity tools would be advantageous.

Previous study, training or other engagement with Western College of Sciences, or demonstrable familiarity with the College's programmes, systems and educational activities, would be particularly advantageous due to the nature of the role.

Qualifications in English, Mathematics, Computing, Business, Administration or a related subject at National 5/SCQF Level 5 or equivalent would also be advantageous, but are not essential.
