About the Role
An established, VC-backed healthcare software scale-up supplying enterprise clinical workflow solutions into the NHS is appointing a Director of Operations. Following rapid commercial expansion across multiple NHS Trusts and regional health systems, this role will lead end-to-end technical delivery, operational scaling, and service quality. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will build repeatable deployment frameworks and direct operational teams as the business transitions into its next phase of enterprise growth.
This is a senior operational leadership appointment with direct team management responsibilities, positioned to scale delivery capacity and drive operational consistency across complex healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Delivery & Deployment: Lead multi-site NHS software implementations, overseeing technical delivery across Trusts, Integrated Care Systems, and primary care environments.
- Operational Strategy & Scaling: Establish repeatable deployment frameworks, standard operating procedures, and resource capacity models to support multiple concurrent programmes across the UK.
- Quality & Governance: Drive delivery excellence, ensuring strict adherence to NHS deployment guidelines, clinical safety standards, interoperability protocols, and client SLAs.
- Team Leadership & Performance: Direct, mentor, and expand operational and delivery teams, embedding clear operational KPIs, accountability, and a high-performance culture.
- Stakeholder & Programme Governance: Serve as the senior operational escalation point for Trust CIOs, CCIOs, and programme directors while partnering closely with executive leadership on growth readiness.
Candidate Profile & Experience
- Healthcare IT Vendor Background: Proven operational or technical delivery leadership experience within a technology vendor deploying clinical or digital health solutions into the NHS.
- Clinical Systems & Workflow Domain: Strong working knowledge of enterprise clinical systems integration and deployment (e.g., Order Communications, EPR, clinical requesting, or diagnostic workflows).
- Scale-Up Agility: Demonstrable track record of building and structuring delivery operations within an agile, high-growth tech environment.
- Operational Toolkit: Deep expertise across capacity planning, technical delivery governance, operational risk mitigation, and KPI-led performance management.
- Leadership Approach: Hands-on leader capable of navigating both strategic operational design and tactical delivery execution.
