Full Job Description

Based in Elgin, the work will entail the acceptance, storage, treatment, transfer and disposal of controlled waste arriving at the Council's disposal facilities. The role is a multi-skilled one where the post holder will be asked to undertake a variety of individual roles within disposal. There may also be a need to work at various other facilities to cover for sickness absence and annual leave.

Significant experience of employment of a similar nature i.e. predominantly labour intensive

Must have a good level of literacy in order to read and act on instructions

Must hold digital driver's tachograph card

Must hold Driver CPC

Cat C and E Licence

Knowledge of general plant & vehicle maintenance

Able to work unsupervised under instruction and as part of an effective team

Ability to follow routines and instructions and own initiative when required.

Self-confident and self-motivated


Able to operate: LGV and ancillaries; Earthmoving plant; Forklift truck; Industrial shredder; Industrial Baler

Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with colleagues and members of the public

Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the practice of good team working

Willingness to accept direction/delegation

Physically capable of medium labouring duties and a small amount of handling large/heavy/awkward items and able to work outdoors in inclement conditions.

Ability to work in an extremely unhygienic environment
