Early Years Practitioner - fixed term until 07/06/2027
The Spinney Lane Nursery School
Salary: £30,188 - £34,452 (pro-rata for sessional)
Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Working pattern for position is Monday - Thursday: 8.00-4.15, Friday: 8.00-1.00
The Spinney Lane Nursery, located in the grounds of Gilmerton Primary School, provides early learning and childcare for children aged 3-5. The nursery has implemented 1140 (term-time) hours from August 2018. From August 2020 the Nursery has run a full-time, term-time only placement for approximately 60 children. Children are in from 8.30-3pm on a Monday to Thursday and 8.30-12.30 on a Friday.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to be creative and imaginative within the early years setting. They will work collaboratively as part of the nursery team and all stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor and review effective early years policies, procedures and practice in a climate which promotes equity and excellence in early learning and childcare.
The following experience would be desirable:
- Experience of using floor books for planning
- Experience of leading and managing initiatives within an early years setting, including loose parts play and outdoor learning
- Froebel trained/experience of the Frobelian approach.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
