Full Job Description
WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to join our E&M Services business stream on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be based from Glasgow and will support the planning, coordination and delivery of electrical engineering works across our water-sector operations. WGM is growing through secured long-term frameworks across the UK water sector, including Scottish Water SR27 and major multi-year programmes with United Utilities and Southern Water. For our people, that means long-term career security, bigger project exposure, technical development and room to progress. This role would suit someone with an electrical engineering background who enjoys being close to delivery, solving practical site challenges and helping projects move safely, efficiently and to the right standard. At WGM, you will be close to the work, close to decisions and close to the impact, with the visibility of a smaller business and the stability of a growing UK engineering company. The Role As Electrical Project Engineer, you will help plan, coordinate and deliver programmed electrical engineering works across WGM's E&M Services business stream. Working closely with Project Managers, supervisors, site teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors, you will support projects from early preparation through to delivery and close-out. This will include helping to develop project objectives, coordinating procurement and site activity, preparing RAMS and technical documentation, resolving practical delivery issues, and ensuring the right materials, labour, resources and plant are in place. You will play an important role in keeping work safe, organised and on track, ensuring projects are delivered in line with agreed time, cost, quality and compliance requirements, including CDM, HSE, Electrical Safety Rules and Isolation Safety Rules. What you'll do:
- Support the planning, preparation and delivery of programmed electrical engineering works across water-sector sites, ensuring activity is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
- Review project proposals, plans, site requirements and delivery information to help develop project objectives, work packages and practical delivery plans.
- Prepare engineering specifications, RAMS, project reports, tender information and technical documentation to support safe and effective delivery.
- Undertake site surveys, including measurements, photographs, access and egress reviews, process understanding and assessment of practical site requirements.
- Coordinate procurement and supplier activity, including bills of materials, supplier quotations, subcontractor liaison, material requirements and inspection of completed supplier works where required.
- Monitor progress, resolve technical and logistical issues, manage defects, report updates to management and support compliance with CDM, HSE, Electrical Safety Rules and Isolation Safety Rules., You will be joining a business that delivers essential infrastructure, supports communities and contributes to a more sustainable future. We invest in our people through training, mentoring, technical development and opportunities to progress. Whether you are already experienced in electrical project engineering or looking to build on a strong electrical engineering foundation, this role offers the opportunity to develop in a supportive, hands-on environment.
- A relevant electrical engineering qualification - degree, HND, BTEC, professional Level 5 qualification or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience supporting electrical engineering, maintenance, construction or water-sector project delivery.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
- Good written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, RAMS, specifications and project documentation.
- Competence in Microsoft Excel
- An appreciation of cost control, project reporting and delivery against time and budget.
- A practical understanding of site environments, safe systems of work and electrical engineering delivery requirements.
- A valid UK driving licence.
