An opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Street Lighting Engineer within the Council’s Roads Lighting team to play a lead role in the design and implementation of new works and maintenance improvement activities across the West Lothian Council area.
West Lothian Council manages over 1,060 km of public roadway, 1,390 km of public footway, 49,935 streetlights and 171 traffic signal junctions.
Reporting to the Senior Lighting Engineer, we are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to undertake this challenging but highly rewarding role. The successful candidate must have extensive experience and a proven track record of delivering complex Street Lighting projects on budget and to deadline.
What you’ll do: Design and manage street lighting and illuminated sign schemes, supervise contract works and ensure compliance with regulations, approve developer designs and ensure the street lighting inventory is kept updated. In addition, the post holder will be required to develop and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of people and organisations. Contacts will include senior colleagues across the Council, elected members, external contractors, public utility companies, developers, and the public.
You will work 36 hours per week over Monday to Friday with hybrid working available. You will receive 26 days annual leave or 31 with more than 5 years’ service, and 7 public holiday a year and access to the council’s excellent pension scheme and employee benefits scheme which provides discounts at over 90 local businesses and over 1000 nationwide.
